There are multiple options to go from the CDG airport to Paris city. This includes Airport bus, train, Taxi service and point to point shuttles. We found Paris suburban train the best - mainly because it give you much more freedom to move around. When you get down at a bus stop, finding another mode of commute to your final destination is not always easy, but, that's not the case with train stations. Very often you can find a taxi for the last mile. If you are put up somewhere close to the station you can actually walk - we did that.
Paris Visite Pass - If you plan to stay in Paris for few days (which is very often the case), consider buying the Paris Visite Pass for all zones. It is certainly useful at least on the day of arrival and on the day of departure. CDG Airport is in the outermost zone and is included in this pass. You can optimize the passes buy buying the all zone pass on the day of arrival and/or on the day of departure and buy a separate pass on the remaining days.
If you plan to visit at least 3 attractions like Palace of Versailles or Disneyland and wish to travel to/from the airport, buying a Paris Visite pass for all zones works out much better.
Now, assuming that you have some kind of a train ticket to get to the city from the airport, here is how you can go.
